RollPlay Magazine
Student Project - Spring 2019
Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
For this project, I created a 6-spread magazine consisting of 3 features that all discuss alternate forms of early childhood education through tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs). This issue specifically covers Dungeons & Dragons. My goal was to create a magazine to inform parents and educators of the benefits of RPGs and how they can be incorporated into classroom settings. For the visual elements, I photographed dice and game components from a real D&D board game. The illustrations were all inspired by the Dungeons and Dragons design aesthetic and other fantasy/medieval art styles. I highlighted each feature using one of the three primary colors to keep them uniform and consistent, but also distinct from one another. Because this project was focused on the design of the magazine, the text was all pulled from external sources and is often repeated to be conducive to my layout. The visual elements and use of negative space give my magazine a playful, childlike feeling.
